Applying Data to Everyday Life
As I Learn More, Hopefully So Can You!

Bio
Griffen Herrera, M.S. Applied Statistics and Analytics / B.S. Phyiscs
I am a former student-athlete at Azusa Pacific University and graduated with my master's degree in applied statistics and analytics. While I was going into my last year of school and playing baseball, I wanted to pursue a career that I would be passionate about for the rest of my life. Which lead me to learn about the field of Baseball Analytics then Data Analytics en. This portfolio will focus on projects I have done during graduate school or projects that I have independently worked on during my spare time. Some of the projects consist of using softwares like JMP, Power BI, RStudio, SAS, SQL, and Tableau. I love to expand my knowledge to learn about different industries, so overall when looking for datasets I try to find anything fun and interesting. I hope this site will benefit other aspiring data analyst like me.
My Research

Blast Motion Data
While I give hitting lessons to young hitters, I split the lessons into four parts. First is tee work with aluminum short bat which they do single arm drills followed by using the Driveline training bats and the hitters own bat (Blast is on hitters own bat the entire lessons). Second the hitters repeat the same process as the first while hitting front toss. Third is hitting live BP, first half of this round is fastballs and then followed by curveballs. Fourth is live BP again, but alternating between fastballs and curveballs. (Some hitters may do other drills depending lesson data result, but this is general overview of how my lessons are like).
Data Analytics
This part of my research I will exploring actual data of MLB players from the past to current day. This data I will be examining will be coming from various online MLB databases like MLBGameDay, PitchRx, Baseball Savant, or anything I can get my hands on. My main focus will be with hitters data, and analyzing it through RStudio. I will occasionally do tutorials for others to learn as well. Check out the blog section to see what projects I finished!
